Property in Altinkum
Property in Altinkum: Didim/Altinkum is a relatively new expat destination that has gained momentum in the last ten years. It is known as a very affordable yet ex-pat friendly area of Turkey. Altinkum means “Golden Sands,” and the area’s good sandy beaches contribute to its allure.
Brits outnumber all other foreign property owners by far, earning it the nickname “Blackpool of Turkey” by some, though agents report an increase in interest from other nationalities in recent years. Despite this, prices in Altinkum remain lower than in, say, the Bodrum area, Alanya, or Fethiye, despite increased investment.
The upgraded international terminal at Bodrum airport and the road system connecting Altinkum with Bodrum and Izmir are two recent or ongoing projects that benefit the resort – Didim has 55 kilometers of coastline with 11 blue flag beaches.
Altinkum also has a new marina, one of Turkey’s largest, and permission for a handful of 5-star hotels, as well as a revamped seafront and plans for a golf course.
